Commenting


Tables Conga

Tables Conga is a game where you have to collect all the time tables in order without getting the X'S touching you. If they do, you fail. And if you win, you get a trophy. 

Dance Mat Typing

This is a game where you have to practice typing words without looking at the keyboard. There are four levels in total that are to be completed.

BomBards - History


This week for Inquiry we had to find a new piece of Technology. For my Group,
we chose BomBards. We had to research Information / What BomBards are, and then
make a SlideShow about them. After we created the SlideShow, we then needed to present
the presentation to the Class about what the BomBards / Canons are.

Language Poster


LI: To identify the structure and language features of a procedural text. This week for Writing we had to make a poster about different texts that are used in writing. Verb, Present Tense, and Third Person. We had to find the definitions of what these three texts meant. We then needed to write in what they all meant.

Swimming - YMCA Pools

This week for Swimming we first learnt how to make big waves with the boards. By doing this, we had to standing on the wall and facing the other person. We each had to take turns going in between the other two people that were with the boards. Then after this, we then had to swish the board back and forth by doing the same thing that we were doing last time. After we finished that, we had to climb out of the Pool and go into the little Pool.
We had go into the pool and form a circle while holding hands. We then needed to run around in a circle and let go when the Teacher / James said to let go. And then we when let go, the water would push us, so we didn't have to swim by ourselves. When we finished doing that, we had to go back into the other pool and try to get the toy's that the teachers threw into the water. We took turns trying to find the toy that was in the pool. After we all finished, we got changed to go on the Bus.

Basic Facts Boxes

LI: To develop fast Recall of Basic Addition and Subtraction facts.
This week for Maths we had to fill in a box of Basic Facts and try to find the right answer. If we got it right, the box bellow the number turned green and said 'Good'. And if we got the answer wrong, the box bellow the number turned red and said 'Try Again' but we just had to leave it. We had to finish 5 Boxes for the Basic Facts.

The Beginning - Summary

This week for Reading we had to make a Summary about the stories we read last week. We had to read through the story again and make a summary about what story. We needed to write the story in our own words because we weren't allowed to copy what was inside the book.

This is a game where you have to practice typing words without looking at the keyboard.

Tongan Language Week


This week we went up to LS2 to learn about Tongan Language Week. We had to
get into a group of three, and create a cartoon character that had to be Tongan. After we
created our character, we needed to write in something that had to be appropriate for Tongan Language Week. My group decided to write numbers in Tongan.

Narrative Edit

The Clown and the Brothers.

One day there was a Clown that was on a hill riding his bike. While he was riding his bike, there were two boys that came up to him and took his balloon and stuck it in a tree.
The Clown was really upset about this so he confronted the two brothers that took his balloon and he fought the brothers and got his balloon back and went back home.
The next day we went to the park and this time, the Clown had two balloons, and his bike. He rode around for a little bit and noticed that the two brothers came back.
They were angered by the clown for taking the balloons back so instead of taking the balloons, they ran away with his bike.

He tried to chase them but they were to fast.
So he decided to make up a plan to get his bike back so he went back home. The next day he went out to go get his bike back. He found the two brothers and went over to talk to them. They still had his bike. So he asked the two brothers if they could give back the bike. They refused to give his bike back.

So the Clown decided to call the police for the two boys to give the bike back to the Clown. The police found the two boys, and gave them a warning, and told them to not take his bike again.

They said to the Police Officer and gave back the bike to the Clown. They apologize to the Clown for taking his bike and they both walked away. After a while the Police Officer left, The Clown walked home. The day after that, he decided to bring a lunch with him for the park. When he got to the park the other boys were causing trouble even though they got a warning by the police.

The Clown ran to them and told them both to stop. Instead of doing so, they took his lunch. He was really angry about them, so he ran over to them again and fought them.

They next day, the clown heard a knock on the door and it was the two boys. They wanted to apologize for the things they have done to him. He gave them a chance, and forgave them both and they all got along well with each other.

This week for Writing we had to go back to our Narrative of our writing and edit / read the story to make sure that it made sense. After we read it all, we had to write down our names on the board and wait for the teacher to check it. After the teacher had checked it, we had to go and draw pictures for our story / narrative.

Bow & Arrow History


This week for Inquiry my group learnt about the Bow & Arrow. We
had to find enough information to make Keywords / Notes and then make a presentation
about what the Bow & Arrow is. We had to make a Slideshow and present it to the class.
And then blog about what it was.

This week for Maths we had to find the area of shapes and shade it in and then
try to sketch around it and then count how many unit squares are in the shape so we have to write in the number inside the shape.  


Escalate - Technology


LI: To make a new piece of Technology.
This week we had to make a new piece of technology to help in the game we played called "Invaders vs Defenders". Last week we posted another presentation on what will give the defenders advantages and my group chose hill forts.

 I think I need to work on speaking louder and having a go by using confidence because I'm shy.

Lac Long Quan Lessons

This week for Reading we continued on our Myths, Legends, and FairyTales. For this week we had to choose a different Myth or Legend. For my one, I chose to do Lac Long Quan. I had to make a DLO about what it is. I had to take Reading Notes and write in Information about what this Myth is. 

Kiwi Can

LI: Learning how to solve problems. This week for Kiwi Can we were learning about how to solve problems. For our Energizer, we played a game called Hoop the Hoop. In this game, we Team One & Team Two. We had to run on the hoops and stop when the other person is facing them then they needed to play Rock Paper Scissors and if one of them have beat the other team, the could go to the next hoop. For our Activity, we played Mat Dogeball. In this game, Ms. Lily had to pick us as numbers and whatever number she called out, they had to get into the middle of the circle and try to doge the ball by the other people in the circle throwing the ball. We then played GKQ where we Ms. Lily, Mr. Matt or the teachers had to call out a question for the person standing up. If they got it wrong they had to sit down and if they got it right they had to sit down as well.

Sunset Art

LI: To make Warm colors & Cold Colors
This week we learnt about Art. For our art, we had to make a Silhouette
digitally of a Building or Tower. We had to use shapes to make the Tower we were doing on the Google Drawing. When we finished our Silhouettes, we then had to make a Sunset with Black Paper and cut out colorful paper then glue it on the paper and then glue on our Structures.

Invaders VS Defenders Inquiry Board Game

This week for Inquiry we have been playing a board game called Invaders VS Defenders. How the game works: We had to choose four people to be in our group, and we needed a Board, Two Dice, Four Counters, and a extra yellow Counter for the Treasure. The two teams had to try and get the other team by rolling the dice. If the team gets a high number, and the other team get a low number. They can attack them only if they said attack first. If a person from the other team hits a object with the dice, they have to roll again.

LI: To learn About Earthworks Fortification & Examples in History.
This week for Inquiry we were taking a look at what structures people used in Wars, and
Battlefields. We had to pick our groups and decide what kind of structures to use. My group
did a Hill fort. We had to gather information from other sites and write down things about Hill Forts. 

Tables Conga

Tables Conga is a Times Tables Maths game where you have to find all the Times Tables that are in order without touching the X's.

Dancing Mat Typing

The game I played today was called Dance Mat Typing. I had to type with my fingers without looking at my screen.

Swimming

Today's week for Swimming we learnt how to help people who are drowning using normal home objects without getting myself drowned too. We had to put one hand up while in the pool, and yell help. Next we had to save the people that work at the pools. We had ti take two turns each at helping each other. After we did that, we had to go and walk to the edge of the pool and sit down. They then taught us how to help out people if they are drowning.
They talked to us about how we should save people while they are drowning and you don't drown too. We had a short lesson this week but it was fun at least. We finished our swimming lesson and got changed and went back to class.

Narrative Writing

The Clown and the Brothers.

One day there was a Clown that was on a hill riding his bike. While he was riding his bike, there were two boys that came up to him and took his balloon and stuck it in a tree.
The Clown was really upset about this so he confronted the two brothers that took his balloon and he fought the brothers and got his balloon back and went back home.
The next day we went to the park and this time, the Clown had two balloons, and his bike. He rode around for a little bit and noticed that the two brothers came back.
They were angered by the clown for taking the balloons back so instead of taking the balloons, they ran away with his bike.

He tried to chase them but they were to fast.
So he decided to make up a plan to get his bike back so he went back home. The next day he went out to go get his bike back. He found the two brothers and went over to talk to them. They still had his bike. So he asked the two brothers if they could give back the bike. They refused to give his bike back.

So the Clown decided to call the police for the two boys to give the bike back to the Clown. The police found the two boys, and gave them a warning, and told them to not take his bike again.

They said to the Police Officer and gave back the bike to the Clown. They apologize to the Clown for taking his bike and they both walked away. After a while the Police Officer left, The Clown walked home. The day after that, he decided to bring a lunch with him for the park. When he got to the park the other boys were causing trouble even though they got a warning by the police.

The Clown ran to them and told them both to stop. Instead of doing so, they took his lunch. He was really angry about them, so he ran over to them again and fought them.

They all got along with each other well. But one day, the brothers were causing trouble. The clown told them to stop but they both said no. Because they both betrayed the Clown. He was very upset about it until he called the Cops and they both got arrested for causing and doing bad things. The Clown never saw them again.  

This week for Writing we had to write a Narrative for the writing we have been doing for the past three weeks. We had to write about what we have been planning for our stories that we have written.

Izanami & Izanagi


LI: To Identify the purpose of narratives.
LI: To Identify the underlying Morals / Themes / Explanation in Myths, Legends, and FairyTales.
This week for Reading we continued our Myths, Legends, and FairyTales. We were allowed to choose what kind of Myth or Legend we could do. After we chose what Myth or Legend we decided to do, we had to chose a partner and then write in notes about what the story is about.

Area of Rectangles: Mini Golf


LI: To Calculate the area of Shapes using Multiplication & Addition.
This week for maths we continued our Area of Rectangles, and did a Mini Golf course.
For this, we had to ruler and draw the courses on to our Maths Book and time table the measurements.
And we also had to rule the area of where to measure the rectangles. 













Kiwi Can

This week in Kiwi Can, we first did our Energizer. For our Energizer, we played a game called Human Knot. In this game we had to get in a group of Seven and hold our hands to the person beside us until they had turned into a knot. They all had to try and get untied from the knot. My group was the first one to finish. For our Activity, we played a game called Mat Doge. In this game, Ms. Lily picked us as numbers for the people who were going to be in the middle. The people who were n the circle had to roll the ball to the people n the middle and they had to try and doge the ball. If they got hit by the ball they had to go sit back down. Then we played GKQ. After that we got into our points.

Sky Tower Trip

This week we went on a trip to the Auckland Sky Tower. We first looked at a car and the man told us what this car was about. Next we went to take a picture on the green screen, The people at the back and to stand up and the people that were in the front had to kneel down. After we took a picture we went on a elevator and look up at the Tower. We were all allowed to look around the building and see what there was. We also got to do a activity in a booklet. We had to write in the places that were around Auckland & Sky City. Then after that, we went to a area that people use for when they are stuck or if there is a fire that has happened. They use that room to keep safe. The lady talked about the Orange Cupboard they keep in there for emergencies or when people are in trouble. They have special things in there to keep people safe. Then we went to the ground floor and watched a video that was ten minutes long. After the video, we asked a few questions to the lady that helped us around the tour. The tower was first built in order for people to communicate. After we asked all the questions, we thanked the lady for helping us around the Sky Tower.

Descriptive Writing


This week for Writing we were continuing on our Character. We had to make a Descriptive Writing drawing and copy and paste the boring part into the left side and the exciting part onto the right side. We needed to write in the boring part what was boring about the character. And for the exciting part, we had to write in what things could be exciting for the Character.

Angles

LI: To calculate the area of shapes using multiplication and addition.
This week for Maths we had to measure Planter Boxes. We had to ruler a line and then write down
how long it is. There were 7 boxes in total that had to be finished.
  

Bridges

This week for Inquiry we were looking at Maps. We had to go to our This VS That and copy and paste the information we had onto the Google Maps. We had to find 10 Maps and gather all the information we could find for these maps.

  This week for Inquiry we had to make three This VS That. We had to make two This VS That google drawings. 1. New Zealand Bridge. and a International Bridge. The bridges I chose for these were, The Kopu Bridge and the Akashi Kaiyo Bridge. 

Swimming Lessons- YMCA

This week for Swimming Lessons we learnt about Hypothermia and Hyperthermia. Hypothermia means that the human body is losing heat than it can produce so the body will turn very cold. And Hyperthermia means that the body is getting more heat and less. For today's lessons with Kelly, we first learnt how to scuttle with our hands. We had to push them back and forth in the water. After we learnt how to do that, We had to float while scuttling with our hands. First we had to put our ears in the water and start floating in the water. Then we learnt how float to the other platform with the pool noodles. We had to grab a pool noodle and try to swim to the other platform with the noodle. After we used the pool noodle we had to use the boards to swim to the other side of the platform. Then we had to go back to the other platform. Then we tried to float with the boards. After we used the boards we did some floating. After we had finished floating, we went to go get changed and go back to class.

Snag Golf

This week for Kiwi Sport Snag Golf we used the putters for the balls this week. We had to get into a group of three. My group was Victoria, and Alayah. One person had to be the back stopper and the other two people had to be at the front. We had to push the ball with the putter and try get it into the hoop. We needed to try get three of the balls into the hoop. If one of the balls didn't get in, the back stopper had to push the ball back to the other person. We only got to do one round though. It was a fun game.

Setting Plan


LI: To plan a narrative.
This week for our writing we were working on our setting for
our character we made. My character was the Clown. We had to write in what kind of things there would be in the setting. For my setting, I chose a hut for the clown. We had to add information about what the setting has.

Area of Rectangles and Times Tables


LI: To measure area of rectangles using unit squares and time tables.
This week for maths we were learning about measurement. We had a sheet of paper and he was to measure the bottom and right side of the squares and rectangles. Then we had to make a time table out of it.  

Media Updated


This week for Cybersmart we were learning about Media. We had to go back to last weeks slide for Smart Media, and write in different words for our photos on WordCloud.

Tengu


This week for reading we learnt about the Japanese Creature called Tengu. We had to make DLO about what a Tengu is. We had to write the Information, Story, and Questioning. 

Kiwi Can

This week for Kiwi Can we have been learning about how to achieve our goals. For our Energizer, we played a game called Snatch. For this game, we had a rope with cones inside of it. When Ms. Lily played the music, we had to walk around the rope. When the music had stopped, we had to grab a cone but we couldn't Dive, and Kneel down while trying to grab it. If any of us did those two things, we had to go sit at the back. After we played snatch we talked about what goals we wanted to achieve. When we were finished talking, We moved on to our Activity. This game was called Octopus. The boys and girls were in separated lines Mr. Matt was in a hoop with two noodles in the middle. We had to try get to the other side without getting tagged. If we got tagged we had to stand where we got tagged and try to tag other people. After that, we played GKQ. Then we got into our points we got 2.3.5 points.

Unit Squares


LI: To compare and measure areas of surface by counting unit squares.
This week for Maths we used Unit Squares to measure the boxes and rectangles on the
sheet of paper. We first had to count the unit squares and then write down how much unit squares there were on the sheet of paper.

Swimming Lessons

This week we went to the swimming pools for swimming lessons. My coach was Kelly. First we learnt how to get into the swimming pool safely. After we did that, we had to swim from the first platform, to the second platform. Then we learnt how to do the Starfish front and back. Then we got a pool noodle and used it to float on our back. Then we had to kick our feet to the other platform. We did the same thing but on our front side. After doing that, Kelly threw the toys out of the bucket and we had to go to the bottom of the pool, and try to grab it. Then we put them back in the bucket. After that we got out of the pool to get changed and go back to class on the bus. 

Panmure Bridge


LI: To find out what happened before the recent bridge was built.
This week for Inquiry we were learning about the timeline for Panmure Bridge. We had to get
into a group of 3 and write down what things should happen for Panmure Bridge.

Describing Character


LI: To plan a narrative. This week for writing we had to describe our character
we created last week. We had to describe their, Appearance, Persona, and Experiences.
And etc. For the character i chose, I picked a clown for my group.

Myths, Legends, and Fairy Tales


LI: To compare Myths, Legends, and Fairy Tales.
This week for reading we have been learning about Myths, Legends, and Fairy Tales. First we had to get into partners and make a Venn Diagram about how these three things are similar. For Myths and Fairy Tales, these were both similar because they are both stories that are fake. And for Myths and Legends, These are similar because they are stories told about things that happened a long time ago.

Kiwi Can

This week for Kiwi Can our new topic for this term was called Goals. And our theme was Resilience.
For our Energizer we played a game called Snatch. For this game we had to grab a tag from Ms. Lily or Mr. Matt and we had to put the tag in our pocket. We had to try and take another persons tag off and if their tag came off they had to sit down by the wall. For our next Activity we played a game where we had to pick a partner that had to be a boy or a girl. There were two teams. Team One and Team Two. We had to get into two lines separated from each other. The two partners had a ball and they had to try get the ball to the other side. Team Two won the game. For our points we got Twenty Four points.

Cybersmart: Smart Media

LI: To Figure out how Media around the world works. This week for Cybersmart we were learning about Smart Media. We had to find two pictures of ourselves at home and at school, We had to go on a website called Wordcloud and type in words about the photos.

Matariki Poster

LI: The LI was to collaborate in a group to talk about Matariki stars and the celebration.
LS1 and LS2 worked together as a group, everybody had to find information about Matariki and the seven stars. Our group had to make a slide show and write down in every slide information that is about Matariki. We had to set a three minute timer and watch a YouTube clip. After we had watched the video, we had to write down facts on a piece of paper.

Comparing fractions / Bigger or smaller

LI: LI: To compare Fractions of different size.
In my maths group we learned about fractions. We learned whitch one is bigger and smaller. When we make a fraction with the paper the paper gets smaller but the number gets smaller. We used Pie fractions, and bar fractions. Then we had to put as many fractions on the pie fraction and solve whitch is more and less.

Figurative Language


LI: To use Figurative Language to describe a character.
This week for writing we had to make a T chart and write things about
a character. We had to make a boring side, and a interesting side. For the boring side, we
had to about what they look like, and what they act like. For my interesting side, I had to write sentences that make him sound like a interesting character. For my T chart, I did Stingy from Lazy Town.

This week for maths we have been learning about Fractions.
We had to get a sheet from Mr. Wong and shade in the fractions that the sheet
says. We had to use a pencil and shade the one that says shade

Acrostic Poem


LI: What is Poetry. This week for Writing we had to make a Acrostic Poem.

Kiwi Can

Kiwi Sport

This week for Kiwi Sports we had Mr. Matt and Ms. Lily. We first had to get a belt and two tags.
The first game we played was called Octopus. LS1 had to go to the wall and there were two taggers and if Ms. Lily or Mr. Matt called out "Girls" the girls had to try and run to the stage without their tags getting ripped. If we got one tag ripped we still go. After we had a few rounds of that game, Mr. Matt had put us into 2 groups. Group One and Group Two. The groups both had to sit away from each other and the last person that was in the line had to go and try rip off one of the tags that the other group had. Group one got the most points out of Group two. We played a couple rounds of this game and then we had to put all the belts and tags on the stage and then line up for class.

Maori

This week for Maori we had to do a word search. We had to write the lyrics of a song we have to practice at home. Whai Odie told us when it is the end of the term, we were going to have a Sausage Sizzle. We had to find Maori words in the word find and then tick them if we have found them. If we have finished the word find, we had to put in the pile on the desk. And then we had to finish our other must does.

General Knowledge


LI: To learn about the world around us.
For my reading I've done General Knowledge, I had to pick a country for this and the
country I did for the slide was Norway. On each slide I had to write information about Norway
and countries are near there. There were two slides where I had to say sayings in Norwegian.
And record how to say it.

Kiwi Sport

















This week for Kiwi Sport we were learning about how to step and side step
to trick people because these are the skills they have in Ripper Rugby so you don't get you're tag
pulled off. First everyone got a belt and two ripper tags. Then Mr. Hamish had split us into three groups, and we played a couple rounds of Ripper Rugby. After we played this all the groups lined up by the cones and one person from one of the groups had to be the person who had to rip the tag off the other person. The first person from each line had a ball. And they had to trick the ripper into thinking their giving them the ball, but no. They keep on running and then pass it on to the next person in the line. We played a few rounds of this and then we had to find a partner. My partner was Liane. We had to stand opposite from each other and Mr. Hamish called out what numbers we were. I was eleven, When Mr. Hamish called out the number we were, we needed to go and run into the middle and the person with the ball had to try and touch the ground with the ball. And the other person had to try and rip their tags off their belt. We played for a while and then we stopped. And we went back to class.

This week for Cybersmart we had to go to Padlet and write advantages we have if we shopped online and in personal. We had to get into a group of four and think of what advantages we have for Online Shopping and In Personal.

This week for Maori LS1 Group were learning about The Seven Stars of Matariki.
First Whai Odie told us about what The Seven Stars of Matariki was, and then we needed to find a partner and get a netbook then we had to look for four stories about the Seven Stars on YouTube.

Digestive System

The Digestive System

LI: To define Digestion.
LI: To describe the structures and respective functions in the human digestive system.
LI: To compare digestion in humans and other living organisms.

For Inquiry we were learning about Inquiry. My group did two task. Picture / Poster, and the Digestive System Slide. The two links are the two tasks we have got finished over the weeks. For the Picture / Poster task, I had to draw a Digestive System and write a explanation on how it works. And for the Digestive System Slide, Our group had to write explanations on what each part of the Digestive System is.
